Big Week!

Lots has happened since my last post. It has been a full-on week as not only have I done two things to fund-raise but I have also found out the topic for the international competition. The topic is currency. I have spent my week researching about Bitcoin and the future of money. It has been a lot for me to cope with but it has also been fun, as always!

On Friday, the international team, a few teachers and I hosted a movie night. We spent the night handing out pizza, ice cream and and waters to the kids in our school. We also cleaned up. The movie was our school production for this year which is The Wind In The Willows: The musical. I am super excited for this and I already know which role I want!

Finally, on Sunday, the team and I went to Mitre 10 Mega in Papanui and did a sausage sizzle. I had the first shift, which started at 8:30 am, but I ended up staying right through to the end, at 4 pm.

Thank you everyone who came to see us at Mitre 10, and an even bigger thank you all the parents who helped!

Sophia 2013 Selwyn House 1.png

Hi I’m Sophia. I am a year 8 student at Selwyn house school and I am raising money so that I can represent New Zealand in an international competition in America. Some of my interests are speech and drama and Kapa Haka. In the photo I am swinging the Purerehua for my school. I won the speech finals for my school and I am the leader of the school Kapa Haka group. I have never been to America before and I am so excited to go and enjoy the learning
